Dr. Palanisamy Kannan obtained his Ph.D from Gandhigram Rural Institute at Deemed University, Tamil Nadu, India. During his dissertation he synthesized different shapes of gold nanostructures for electrochemical biosensing applications. In 2010 he moved to Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and in 2012 to the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Warsaw, Poland, for postdoctoral research on biosensors based on nanostructures and fuel cell catalysis. He returned to Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2015 and started his research in bio-electrochemistry. Dr. Kannan has worked on a simple bio-electrochemical sensor system for the detection of volatile organic compound using E. coli as a model microbe. He has also contributed to a small-volume bio-electrochemical E. coli detector based on a screen-printed electrode. In his spare time, he enjoys badminton, cricket and movies.

We congratulate Kannan on his new job in China! He is now at Jiaxing University.
