Elton graduated with a Masters degree in Marine Science and Management from University of New South Wales and a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences from Nanyang Technological University. He was a research assistant at the Tropical Marine Science Institute (TMSI) at National University of Singapore where he worked on marine ecotoxicology. At SCELSE, he is focusing on sediment-based biofilms using flume experiments, and on the isolation of fish pathogens from coastal sediments. His research interests are in ecology, in particular, the impact of anthropogenic activities on marine organisms, using both laboratory experiments and underwater research in the field.
Elton is a certified scuba diver and would like to travel around to explore the worlds’ oceans. He is not related to Jacques Cousteau.
